A Supportive Hug

ABOUT THE MINISTRY

As overcomers and those who are overcoming, let’s link arms and build healthy communities, churches, and families as we keep conversations about mental health alive.

YOUR JOURNEY

Ahhhh you’re here! Perhaps that’s one of the greatest statements of thanksgiving anyone could extend. You. Are. Here! What an honor to be a part of your journey. Our journeys are remarkable in that they tell a piece of our story, but they are not our entire story. We are all books upon books in the making.

YOUR STORY

Regardless of how our stories progressed, they each had the same start. We were created by a loving and mighty God who had a purpose in our arrival, our journeys, and our destiny. My arrival was met by two loving parents who also loved the Lord. And yet, as a young child my journey took an drastic turn. My biological father began showing signs of schizophrenia. He became abusive in various ways and his behavior was eerily unpredictable toward us. What I had learned regarding right and wrong, appropriate and inappropriate, decent and obscene had been reversed. I didn’t know what to call it at that time, but today I know it to be mental illness.

YOUR CALL

The beginning of that journey led me to some dark, lonely and painful places; but eventually, it led me here. Yes, it led me to this ministry, this calling, this this this mission. A huge part of my life’s assignment is to blot out the stigma of mental illness, help families and individuals who are struggling from its torment, and to ultimately reveal the love, grace and power of God toward the mentally ill and those impacted by it. As a former pastor, current school psychologist, evangelist, parent, and grandparent, I have been blessed to fulfill this call daily for almost two decades.
