About the event
Did you know that in February of 2021, 43.6% of adults in Kentucky reported symptoms of anxiety or depression? In fact, in Kentucky, 189,000 adults have a serious mental illness. Mental health awareness is more than a good idea, it can be a matter of life and death regardless of age. Kentucky is ranked 18th in the nation for its high suicide rate. For Kentucky, suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death for ages 10-34, and the 4th leading cause of death for ages 35-44.
As alarming as the statistics may be, there is hope! On December 3, 2022 from 9 am to 2:00pm, I will be hosting The Gospel Of Mental Health Conference at Greater New Hope Christian Church located at 1719 Jennifer Road Lexington, KY 40505. The facility accommodates up to 500 people. The conference will include speakers, coping/calming sessions and a panel of community mental health experts such as Daisy Brown, LCSW, founder of Remnant Counseling Center, McKenzie Leachman, Ph.D., Positive Behavior Interventions and Support Coach, Sabrina Hinkle, PMHNP, NAMI Kentucky, the Neighborhood Healers Project and more.
Do not only attend, but I am asking for your support by sharing information regarding this conference throughout the month of November. The registration fee is $25, but for groups of 10 or more the cost is $20 per person. The deadline to register online is 11/28/22. However, registration will be available at the door for  $30. Each attendee will receive resources, have the opportunity for giveaways via raffle, have a delicious lunch, experience a live coping/calming session, and of course hear power-packed teaching from our expert speakers and panelists.Â
The conference will help attendees who are suffering with their own mental health, know and love someone struggling, as well as our community at large. This conference will not only benefit the here and now, but the future.  The education, testimonies, resources, recognition and support will keep on giving for seasons to come. As overcomers and those who are overcoming, let’s link arms and build healthy communities, churches, and families as we keep conversations about mental health alive.
